Wilma Liebman, current Chairman of the Board, began serving on the
National Labor Relations Board in 1997.Before joining the Board, she
served as Special Assistant to the Director of the Federal Mediation
and Conciliation Service (FMCS) from 1994 to 1996, and later as Deputy
Director of the agency, which is responsible for encouraging labor
dispute resolution through mediation and arbitration. Previously,
Liebman was a staff attorney at the NLRB, Labor Counsel to the
International Brotherhood of the Teamsters, and also to the Bricklayers
and Allied Craftsmen. She holds a law degree from George Washington
University, and has served as a member of the Executive Board of the
Industrial Relations Research Association and of the College of Labor
and Employment Lawyers.
