Investment Firm, Artists, and Wireless Provider To Be Celebrated
WHAT: American Rights at Work to Host Second Annual Eleanor Roosevelt From Hollywood to Wall Street, businesses and individuals are forging partnerships that embrace workers’ rights, justice, and equality. This week, American Rights at Work will honor workers’ rights leaders and activists from diverse backgrounds at its second annual Eleanor Roosevelt Human Rights Awards Celebration in Washington, DC. The recipients reflect a growing concern about workplace fairness among employers, civic-minded individuals, and organizations outside the labor movement. Many view protecting workers’ rights as good business practice and a crucial act for advancing democracy and human rights at home and abroad. The award is named after Eleanor Roosevelt, a long-time union member who was instrumental in the passage of the UN’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The treaty states, “Everyone has the right to freedom of peaceful assembly and association and the right to form and join trade unions.” WHO: The awards celebration, featuring special guest Sen.
