Washington, DC - Hailing from the international business sector to Capitol Hill and America’s heartland, three extraordinary honorees will be recognized on the evening of June 24 by the American Rights at Work Education Fund for their work embracing the notion that workers’ rights are fundamental to human rights. The fourth annual Eleanor Roosevelt Human Rights Awards Celebration will honor:
American Rights at Work Education Fund chose this year’s award recipients due to their strong support and innovative leadership on behalf of working men and women. In particular, Gamesa Technology Corporation is recognized for its willingness to partner with employees and allow them to form unions without interference. The Leadership Conference on Civil Rights’ has worked to expose FedEx Ground’s unfair labor practices, and Gov. Kathleen Sebelius has supported numerous worker-friendly labor policies. The American Rights at Work Education Fund is an educational and outreach organization, which works in concert with American Rights at Work, to promote the freedom of workers to form unions and bargain collectively. The organization’s award is named after Eleanor Roosevelt, a long-time union member who was instrumental in the passage of the UN’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and in its inclusion of the right to organize as a fundamental human right.
