WASHINGTON, DC— On news that President Obama has appointed Craig Becker and Mark Pearce to the National Labor Relations Board, Kimberly Freeman Brown, Executive Director of American Rights at Work, released the following statement:

"We applaud President Obama today for his strong leadership in using his Constitutional power during the Congressional recess to appoint Craig Becker and Mark Pearce to create a fully functioning National Labor Relations Board.

The President's five predecessors - including George W. Bush - used the same power. When jobs are scarce, workers are often forced to endure unfair working conditions. America's workers need a fully functioning NLRB to mediate their claims for better wages, benefits and other rights now more than ever - and after two long years they have one.

While there is much more that the Obama Administration can do to advance the cause of labor law reform, today's appointments were a very good start."
