Support the Writers Strike: Call Studio Executives
November 15, 2007

Writers are the creative minds behind the shows and movies we all love to watch. Their work provides the foundation for the content produced by the entertainment industry.  But since November 5, 12,000 entertainment writers have been on strike.

These hardworking men and women are taking a stand against corporate greed.  Just like any of us, they should be compensated fairly for the work that they do.  We need to stand with them as they defend workers' rights and abilities in our new economy.

We have the names and phone numbers of studio and network executives - can you take a few minutes to call and tell them to pay their writers?

Striking Writers Need Your Help
November 15, 2007

Support striking writers! Since November 5th, 12,000 writers have been on strike.  Writers are the creative minds that power the shows and movies we all love to watch.  Their work provides the foundation for the content produced by the entertainment industry and they should be compensated fairly for the work they do.

Hollywood studios won't sit down and seriously negotiate with the writers, who want to get paid when networks offer TV shows and movies for downloading on the Internet.  It is estimated that the studios will bring in $4.6 billion over the next three years through the Internet—and they don't want to give the writers a penny.

Tell the studio companies to come back to the bargaining table and resolve this strike. They should treat the writers with the respect they deserve, and we will stand in solidarity until the writers get a fair deal.

Tell American Eagle Unionbusting Doesn't Fit!
September 25, 2007

One of the biggest clothing retailers in North America, American Eagle Outfitters has a corporate code of conduct for contractors that supports workers’ rights to join a union.

But workers at American Eagle’s Canadian distribution contractor have a shocking story to tell.  When these men and women first tried to form a union, they say they were subjected to harassment and intimidation—all part of a massive unionbusting campaign.

Ask Safeway to Help Blue Diamond Workers
August 13, 2007

100takeaction Blue Diamond runs the world’s largest almond processing plant and produces almonds for our snacks, cereal, and candy.  They also have produced a self-described “aggressive union-avoidance campaign” against their workers who are simply trying to form a union to improve their wages and working conditions.

Ask the supermarket chain Safeway to demand Blue Diamond quit its tricks and pledge to not interfere with its employees' union organizing efforts!

» Tell one of Blue Diamond’s biggest customers to ask the company to play sweet.

Ask Congress to Give Workers RESPECT
August 13, 2007

Click to take action Last year, the National Labor Relations Board decided to reclassify employees with limited supervisory duties as 'supervisors,' stripping millions of workers of their right to form a union.  The very agency that is supposed to protect a worker's basic right to form a union has once again taken away those rights.

Only Congress has the power to restore those rights.  Please write to your Members of Congress and ask them to co-sponsor the RESPECT Act (H.R. 1644 and S. 969) and give workers the respect they deserve.
