Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington
(CREW) is a nonprofit legal watchdog group dedicated to holding public
officials accountable for their actions. Through Freedom of
Information Act requests, the group forced the Department of Labor to
release materials that revealed a cozy relationship between the federal
agency and Richard Berman. The documents uncovered that the DOL
distributed anti-union propaganda from Berman's front group the Center
for Union Facts, and point to an anti-labor bias in the
Administration. CREW plans to continue pressing the DOL for
Berman-related correspondence that DOL Secretary Chao has thus far
withheld.
-
CREW requested the IRS revoke the tax-exempt 'non-profit' status of
one of Berman's organizations charging that it has no charitable
purpose and Berman is privately benefiting from the group.

- CREW recently sent a letter to television managers to discredit the
Center for Union Facts and its television ad (LINK) and why they should
refuse to air the ad based on their FCC- licensee obligations. View
the letter, here. (LINK TO A PDF of the letter)
